Ah yes, I've either said or heard this one before. I am not a flash professional, nor am I a newbie. How many newbs know how to manipulate bitmaps using AS and communicate with flash movies outside of the flash in question? Not to mention I helped teach a class on flash. The teacher was still just experimenting with flash at the time and I had already used it for more than a year, so really, I more troubleshooted than taught. (EDIT: 08/25/08)
With that said, I want those that I have reviewed harshly to know that I know how to use flash. I know what a good movie looks like, and I'm all too aware of the hideous appearance of "less-than-satisfactory" movies look like as well. The reason why I currently have no flash submissions to prove that I know how to use flash... is because all mine where blamed. I've learned not to submit something that doesn't at least have some time and effort invested in it. Which is also why I haven't submitted anything for... well, quite a while. I really don't want people viewing my movie to feel that they are wasting their time.
Hopefully those who read this will understand my concerns and my points. I want to explain why I am so hard-ass on newbies, and I don't plan on getting much better. Soon I would like to submit a movie I can be proud of. But until then, I hope to see others that will make me proud.
